Reuse Remake Recycle in the Works of Marvel Architects

Sep 12, 2017

Wednesday, September 13 at 6:30 p.m

Jonathan Marvel of Marvel Architects will be reviewing a series of projects which have transformed his studio’s approach to architectural work on existing historic buildings and landmarked sites. His lecture will use Marvel’s portfolio of work to explain how adaptive, original, and innovative designs are created within the confines of existing historical structures. Rather than view preservation and adaptive re-use as prohibitive, Marvel’s approach harnesses existing conditions and on-site artifacts, as well as the structural, contextual, and cultural integrity of a historic building as the basis for original and innovative, and thus more sustainable, design.
