Dennis Vermeulen’s 15 years of architectural practice follows a decade of experience as a visual artist and Head of Installation at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Material, social, and spatial explorations of artworks, and the technical demands of large-scale, multi-media exhibitions inform his approach to design and knowledge of fabrication and construction. Dennis applies this unique background to designing and managing residential, commercial, and institutional architecture projects in New York and abroad. His most recent crowning achievement is the award-winning Pierhouse and 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge Park, a 600,000SF development along the waterfront in Downtown Brooklyn. Currently, Dennis is leading efforts to create a more resilient, physically-restored and future-proofed Orchard Beach Pavilion in the Bronx. Dennis also contributes design and technical expertise to studies and competitions for Marvel Architects. Dennis received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Boston University and Master of Architecture from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation (GSAPP).
