Battery Maritime Building Redevelopment

New York, NY

We designed a boutique hotel with rooftop restaurant and a multi-use food venue to sit atop the landmark 1909 Battery Maritime Building. An elegantly modern and historically sensitive redevelopment, the plan completes the revitalization of this majestic metropolitan transportation facility, bringing new use and economic vitality to the building. The plan focuses around three main programmatic elements: the ground floor entry and ferry/water taxi operations, a multi-purposed Great Hall event space on the grand public second floor, and a boutique hotel with a rooftop bar and restaurant. The project has the support of the community and the approval of the Landmarks Preservation Commission and National Parks Service.
